Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated is seeking an Operating Engineer to manage the operation, inspection and maintenance of mechanical, HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems in a 550,000 sq ft Class A office building in Chicago. Work with the team to ensure reliable facilities performance and tenant service excellence.

The role requires 3–5 years’ related experience, trade school or college background, and EPA CFC certification or plan to obtain within the first year.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of related work experience in facilities maintenance, HVAC, electrical or plumbing.
• Trade school education or college preferred.
• EPA Universal CFC certification or plan to obtain within first year.
• Leadership or supervisory experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, and maintain mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Assist Chief Engineer and guide the Engineering team.
• Assist in supervising and implementing the preventative maintenance program.
• Maintain CMMS work orders and respond to tenant service requests.
• Troubleshoot building systems including electrical, DDC, and pneumatic controls.
• Participate in safety training and comply with procedures.
• Provide on‑call or emergency response support when needed.
• Perform general maintenance tasks such as painting, pressure washing, lighting maintenance, plumbing, water treatment, locksmith work.

The Operating Engineer , with minimal supervision, the operation, inspection, and maintenance processes to mechanical, HVAC, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems. This role may include assisting the Chief Engineer with providing direction to the team. You will work as part of an engineering team of 4 at a 550,000 square foot Class A office building in Chicago**What your day-to-day will look like:** · Complete assigned tasks that include but are not limited to: painting, pressure washing, maintaining lighting system bulbs/ballasts, plumbing, HVAC systems, water treatment, locksmith work and general maintenance (as allowed by licensing requirements)· Assist in supervising and implementing the preventative maintenance program· Maintain work order system (CMMS) daily and complete any tenant service requests· Assist in providing training and supervision aimed at expanding the capabilities of Engineering team· Support on-call or emergency response situations (if applicable)· Troubleshoot all building systems, including electrical, DDC and pneumatic controls· Comply with all safety procedures· Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs· Other projects and tasks to be assigned**On-site presence required****Schedule:** 10am-6pm Monday through Friday**Complete job description available on JLL's internal portal****Required qualifications:**· 3-5 years of related work experience, especially in repair, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or carpentry· Trade school education, union training, military service or college is desirable· Universal CFC EPA certification or interest in achieving within first year (with JLL assistance)· Leadership/supervisory experience· Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs· Comfort using ladders up to 30 feet tall· Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift and/or drive· Strong customer service skillsThis position does not provide visa sponsorship.
