The University of Utah in Salt Lake City invites applications for a tenure-track opera faculty position within the School of Music. The role includes teaching Opera Workshop to undergraduates and graduates, directing scenes or full productions, and mentoring students on repertoire, auditions, and career networking.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in vocal performance (Doctorate preferred) with significant national/international experience and a proven record of teaching and mentoring.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in vocal performance, opera, or a closely related field.
• Significant professional experience as an opera singer, director, or vocal coach at the national or international level.
• Demonstrated success in teaching opera performance, acting for singers, or related subjects at the collegiate or conservatory level.
• Proven ability to mentor emerging artists in artistic, technical, and career development.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills.

Responsabilités

• Teach Opera Workshop for undergraduate and graduate performance students.
• Assist with role preparation and stagecraft for opera productions, with individualized coaching on interpretation, diction, and stage presence.
• Direct staged opera scenes and/or full productions with the program's principal coach, conductor, and production team.
• Mentor students on repertoire, audition technique, career strategy, and industry networking.
• Collaborate with voice, collaborative piano, conducting, and other faculty to integrate training with curricular goals.
• Maintain an active profile as performer, director, or industry professional to enhance program visibility.
• Participate in recruitment, auditions, and outreach within the department and university.
