Job summary

The Washington Athletic Club is seeking a Lifeguard to provide a safe, welcoming environment for members and guests in our aquatic facilities. This role emphasizes vigilance, clean records, and excellent service while maintaining pool safety protocols.

Candidates should hold current lifeguard and CPR certifications, have strong communication skills, and be available for morning shifts on weekdays and Saturdays as outlined in the job description.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard certification and CPR required.
• Experience in a customer-facing role is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of members and guests by enforcing WAC rules and procedures.
• Keep the pool area clean and organized, including maintaining records of pool attendance and pool chemicals.
• Recognize and respond quickly to emergencies in the Aquatics area, administering CPR/First Aid as needed and completing incident reports.

Fridays, 4:45am to 10:00am

Saturdays, 5:45am to 11:00am

OVERVIEW

The Lifeguard is responsible for providing a safe environment and excellent service to WAC members. They maintain pool water cleanliness and keep accurate logs.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure the safety of members and guests by enforcing WAC rules and procedures
• Keep the pool area clean and organized, including maintaining records of pool attendance and pool chemicals
• Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies in the Aquatics area and around the club, administering CPR, AED, and first aid as needed, then completing incident and accident reports as required
• Attend and participate in staff meetings and training programs
• Respond to member questions and provide timely, accurate answers
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

• A minimum of one (1) year of experience lifeguarding
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Red Cross Lifeguard Certification and CPR Certification required
• Strong communication skills and a customer service mindset.
