Embark on a Journey of Impactful Adventure

The Opening and Closing Camp Counselor is responsible for the safety, well-being and supervision of the campers. The Opening and Closing Camp Counselor willassist with the drop off and pick up of campers. Transporting kids from car line to camp in the morning, and from camp to carline in the afternoon. Assisting with sign in and sign out. After drop off and before pick up assisting with taking late drop offs to their groups, and early pick ups from their groups to the camp office.Allassigned duties will be performed in a manner reflecting the YMCA of the USA character developmenttraits of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility.

What You’ll Do

  • Ensures the safety and well-being of all campers in the group and camp-wide and ensures a risk-free environment for all.
  • Assists with transition of campers at drop off or pick up.
  • schedule, submitting written plans prior to each week or as assigned by Camp Director.
  • Maintains positive relationships with campers, parents, and staff.
  • Organizes and maintains camp equipment, supplies, and property.
  • Actively participate in all aspects of the day camp schedule as assigned.
  • Maintains camp records including, but not limited to accident & incident reports, sign in/out sheets, attendance documents, etc.
  • Maintains expectation of the YMCA requirements/rations and help others do the same.
  • Works collaboratively with Head Counselor for assigned group.
  • Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

What You'll Need

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and/or have prior experience in working with children in a camp environment.
  • Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs.
  • Attend all required pre-camp and camp season trainings and meetings as scheduled.
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings before first day of camp.
