Job summary

Octant Bio seeks a team lead to head the OpenADMET team in Emeryville, coordinating with UCSF and OMSF while integrating ADMET assays into the Navigator platform. You will shape strategy, drive execution, and champion a data-driven, open science approach across programs.

You will guide a cross-functional team of scientists and software engineers, balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution, and communicate progress to funders and collaborators in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, or a related discipline
• 8–10+ years of small molecule drug discovery with leading cross-functional teams
• Experience spanning ADME/DMPK, pharmacology, and medicinal chemistry
• Track record building platforms or enabling technology and data/automation infrastructure
• Computational fluency and ability to work with data and AI tools
• Ability to shift between strategy and execution and communicate with funders
• Excitement for open science and collaborative work

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategy and execution of Octant’s OpenADMET contributions with UCSF and OMSF
• Build long-term relationships with funders and scope future funding stages
• Grow the OpenADMET ecosystem and engage blind challenge participants
• Decide which ADMET assays to build and ensure robust, high-throughput performance
• Bridge in-house synthesis with ADMET assays in a design–make–test loop
• Lead and grow a cross-disciplinary team of scientists, ML, software, biology, and chemistry
