Responsibilities:
  1. Performs physical assessments of patients in an outpatient setting, reviews medical history, and interprets diagnostic tests/results to provide effective treatment.
  2. Conducts preventive health screenings based on patient age, history, and needs to provide proactive healthcare.
  3. Educates patients and families about medical conditions, treatments, and follow-up care.
  4. Maintains records of all patient care across primary care offices to ensure accurate patient history.
  5. Performs medical procedures in accordance with departmental guidelines and clinical roles within outpatient care settings.
  6. Identifies ways to improve outpatient care by assessing, problem-solving, and evaluating clinical and system issues.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:

Required: Master’s Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies. Physician Assistants employed at Cone Health prior to October 14, 2024, with a Bachelor’s Degree will have the Master’s Degree requirement waived if they maintain employment and PA licensure with Board Certification.

Experience:

Required: None
Preferred: 3+ years

Licensure/Certification:
  • Valid NC RN and Nurse Midwife or NP license OR NC PA license
  • Board Certification within 1 year of hire by NCCPA for PAs or ANCC, NCC, AMCB, AANP, or PNCB for NPs
  • BLS (CPR) certification from American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Protocol (NRP) certification required for Neonatal Advanced Practice Providers
  • IVC Certified within 90 days of employment for Behavioral Health Advanced Practice Providers
