About the Department:


The Department of Computer Science has 30 teaching-track faculty and 56 tenured and tenure-track faculty with wide-ranging research interests, and strong research groups in cybersecurity, systems and networks, machine learning and data mining, artificial intelligence, robotics, visual computing, theory, databases, bioinformatics, HCI, and software engineering. The department has seen a substantial increase in computer science majors as enrollment has grown from 550 undergraduates in 2012 to 2,500 today. The department has 230 PhD students and over 900 Masters students enrolled in three MS programs. The Department has around $5.5 million in annual research expenditures, 29 recipients of the prestigious NSF CAREER Award, six IEEE Fellows, and three ACM Fellows. The department is currently ranked #33 on CSRankings.

About the Position:


The Department of Computer Science invites applications for one or more tenure-track or tenured faculty positions beginning Fall 2025.



Candidates to this position will be expected to develop a program of scholarly research, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, participating in university, college, and departmental governance, professional and public service, and performing related instructional assignments such as supervising senior projects, student internships, and practicum.


Responsibilities:


Teaching



  • Teaches at the undergraduate and graduate levels.


Research



  • Develops an independent, externally funded research program.


Service



  • Advises students;

  • Participates in all aspects of the department's mission; and

  • Serves the profession.


Required Qualifications:



  • Must have received a Ph.D. in computer Science or a related field;

  • Candidates with a Ph.D. in other fields should have a strong publication record in Computer Science;

  • Applicants should have demonstrated potential for excellence and productivity in research, and a commitment to high-quality teaching; and

  • Applicants at the rank of Associate or Full Professor must have established records of outstanding research and teaching, and significant experience in an academic setting in teaching for at least six years post Ph.D.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Applicants at all ranks and in all areas of computer science, broadly defined, will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D., teaching experience, and a record of peer-reviewed publications;

  • Administrative and/or managerial experience is a plus;

  • Applicants who can build collaborations with other departments within the College and across the University will benefit from the strong support and encouragement for interdisciplinary collaboration with the College and the University; and

  • The department and the College place high value on engaging students from traditionally underrepresented groups, and candidates from these groups are especially encouraged to apply.
