Vanderbilt University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering invites applications for an open-rank, tenured/tenure-track faculty position in robotics and autonomous systems to begin Fall 2027. We seek researchers with a strong program and external funding history, capable of advancing fundamentals while addressing national security challenges.

Applicants will contribute to teaching core ME courses, expand graduate offerings, and collaborate across centers such as VISE, VINSE, and VSEC.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead externally funded research programs in robotics and autonomous systems.
• Contribute to teaching core mechanical engineering courses and expanding graduate offerings.
• Collaborate across Vanderbilt's interdisciplinary centers (VISE, VINSE, VSEC) and national security initiatives.
• Integrate AI and machine-learning approaches into research and teaching to advance fundamentals and applications.
