Board-certified or eligible in AP or AP/CP and MD degree required. The successful candidate will sign out routine and consult surgical pathology cases in a subspecialized diagnostic workflow, with a digital pathology option for primary diagnosis and opportunities in teaching

Qualifications

• MD degree or equivalent required.
• Board-certified or eligible in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
• Unrestricted Virginia license or eligibility.
• Fellowship training or expertise in surgical pathology preferred, GI and liver subspecialties emphasized.
• Strong teaching and scholarly activity expected.

Responsibilities

Description

The Department of Pathology at the University of Virginia invites applications for a full-time Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology certified Pathologist with interest in Surgical Pathology, with preference for subspecialty training or documented expertise in gastrointestinal and liver pathology. This is an open rank, tenure optional position.

The successful candidate will participate in sign-out of routine and consultation surgical pathology cases as part of a subspecialized diagnostic workflow. A digital pathology workflow for primary diagnosis is already implemented as an option for faculty and learners in Surgical Pathology.

Subspecialty fellowship training or equivalent expertise in a sub-area surgical pathology is desired, with emphasis on expertise in gastrointestinal and liver pathology; interest and experience in teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as scholarly activity, is expected. Additionally, the qualified candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work as a team member.
