Job summary

Qualifications

  • Five years for Librarian Associate Professor and Professor ranks.

Job description

Position Overview

The University Library is hiring a forward-thinking and collegial Learning & Engagement Librarian based at the Dunwoody Campus.

Responsibilities
  • Eager to partner with faculty in their teaching and engage with students in their first and second years, primarily in developing the information literacy and research skills that support the University’s College to Career Competencies Initiative.
  • Participate in developing innovative instruction techniques, tools, and assessments.
  • Participate in student and faculty outreach activities throughout the university.
  • Provide reference service in-person and online.
  • Create and maintain multimedia web-based information literacy and instructional materials.
  • Engage and support the faculty, staff, and students’ research, teaching, and learning needs.
  • Support peers’ shared learning and practical exploration of AI tools and practices relevant to library instruction, workshops, outreach, research support, and faculty collaboration.
Required Experience

Librarian Faculty Rank Requirements:

  • Librarian Instructor – entry level probationary rank requiring little or no professional experience.
  • Librarian Assistant Professor – Minimum three fully years of service at the rank of Librarian Instructor.
  • Librarian Associate Professor – Minimum of five full fiscal years of service at the rank of Librarian Assistant Professor.
  • Librarian Professor – Minimum of five full fiscal years of service at the rank of Librarian Associate Professor.
Required Education

Master’s degree from an ALA‑accredited program.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience
  • Creativity, initiative, and interest in innovative approaches to reference/research assistance, library instruction, and outreach work.
  • Experience with outreach and/or programming.
  • Experience teaching or providing library instruction in face‑to‑face and/or virtual settings.
  • Experience creating digital learning objects.
  • Working knowledge of new and emerging technologies.
  • Interest in ethical and responsible uses of AI in library instruction, student learning, research support, or faculty collaboration.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse library users and colleagues.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel between campuses and participate in online meetings.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence tools and their potential uses in teaching, learning, research support, or related professional contexts.
Pre-Employment Requirements

A criminal background check is required.

Work Hours
  • Twelve‑month assignment, faculty rank, non‑tenure track.
  • Health and retirement benefits.
  • Support for research and professional activities.
  • Regular work at both the Dunwoody and Alpharetta campuses is required, with occasional work at other Perimeter College campuses.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
Salary

$58,750 – $63,500
