University of Nebraska College of Law invites applications for the position of Reference Librarian (Open Rank Professor) at the Schmid Law Library. This 12-month, tenure-track faculty role supports student learning and faculty scholarship within a dynamic academic setting.

The Reference Librarian will provide expert research assistance, teach in the first-year program, lead instructional initiatives, and develop Libguides and bibliographies to enhance research.

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school.
• Master’s in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program, with completion required within 18 months or per joint degree timelines.
• Master’s in Library and Information Science and substantial professional experience as a law librarian.

Responsabilités

• Provide expert research assistance and reference services to a diverse community including faculty, students, and the public.
• Teach in the first-year legal research program.
• Lead and participate in instructional and outreach initiatives.
• Develop law library resources such as Libguides and bibliographies to enhance research and learning.
• Take on evolving responsibilities within a modern law library based on priorities and expertise.
• Contribute to research, scholarship and other significant activity.
• Promote a positive, collaborative, inclusive, and innovative work environment.

Formation

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited master’s program

Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science + substantial professional experience as a law librarian
