Job summary

The University of Virginia School of Medicine seeks a Board-Eligible or Certified, Fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Hand Surgeon for a tenure-eligible Open Rank Professor role starting August 2027. The candidate must demonstrate clinical excellence and the ability to pursue quality basic science or clinical research.

MD required with Hand Surgery CAQ; salary and tenure status depend on qualifications. Involves teaching, patient care, and collaboration with the UVA Hand Center and other divisions

Qualifications

• MD required with board-eligibility or board-certification.
• Fellowship in hand surgery with CAQ in Hand Surgery required.
• Demonstrated academic productivity and research capability.

Responsibilities

• Provide orthopaedic hand and upper extremity care in a Level 1 trauma setting.
• Engage in clinical and basic/clinical research with academic productivity.
• Share hand and upper extremity call with other faculty and participate in outreach clinics.
