Job summary

Hope College invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track faculty position in the Geological and Environmental Sciences Department to begin Fall 2027. The successful candidate will teach Introductory and Field Geology courses and upper-level courses such as Mineralogy, Petrology, Hydrogeology, and Geomorphology, and develop an undergraduate research program.

Qualifications

• PhD in geoscience-related field required.
• Postdoctoral research experience preferred.
• Ability to teach Introductory and Field Geology courses and upper-level courses.
• Strong plan to establish undergraduate research with a funded program.
• Open area with environmental relevance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach Introductory and Field Geology courses and upper-level courses such as Mineralogy, Petrology, Hydrogeology, Historical Geology, Sedimentology, Geomorphology, or Intro to GIS.
• Develop and mentor an undergraduate research program with a long-term vision.
• Articulate specific research plans that involve undergraduates.
• Collaborate with the department and external programs to enhance research opportunities.
