Job summary

Hope College invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track faculty position in the Geological and Environmental Sciences Department, starting Fall 2027.

The ideal candidate will teach a range of courses from introductory and field geology to upper-level topics such as Mineralogy, Petrology, Hydrogeology, and GIS, and will develop a nationally recognized undergraduate research program with undergraduate student involvement.

Qualifications

• Ability to teach Introductory and Field Geology courses, plus upper-level courses such as Mineralogy, Petrology, Hydrogeology, Historical Geology, Sedimentology, Geomorphology, or GIS.
• Proven potential to establish an undergraduate research program and secure funding.
• Strong commitment to inclusive undergraduate education and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate geology and environmental science courses as part of an open-rank, tenure-track program.
• Develop and mentor undergraduate research projects with environmental relevance.
• Contribute to department, college service, and program development across the geoscience offerings.
