Job summary

NEOMED is seeking an Open Rank Faculty, Medical Director for the Certified Mental Health Assistant Program. The part-time, non-tenure track appointment focuses on providing clinical perspective to curriculum and coordinating clinical rotations to meet accreditation standards.

The Medical Director will lead teaching activities, supervise clinical sites, build a high-quality educational experience, and collaborate with program leadership and state-wide stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Board-certified in Psychiatry with 10 years of clinical experience.
  • Current active Ohio medical license.
  • Minimum 5 years teaching students or residents.
  • Teaching in university-based undergraduate/graduate medical education.
  • Coordinating activity of and supervising clinicians.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in Program Advisory Committee and assist with recruiting clinical sites and faculty.
  • Coordinate pre-clinical classes and clinical rotations to meet accreditation requirements.
  • Calibrate clinical sites to ensure high-quality educational experiences and student success.
  • Provide CQI of the clinical curriculum and serve as Medical Liaison with state-wide stakeholders.
  • Instruct in classroom and clinical settings; develop and analyze curriculum to ensure medical knowledge.
  • Participate in college/university committees and professional organizations; engage in service activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary:

The Medical Director of theCertified Mental Health Assistant Program providesclinical perspective to the curriculum of the Certified MentalHealth Assistant (CMHA) program. The Medical Director will assistthe Program Director in the following key areas:

  • Providing vision for the development & growth of theclinical curriculum,
  • Coordinating and teaching pre-clinical classes and coordinatingclinical rotations aimed at achieving and maintaining accreditationcompliance,
  • Supervising ongoing calibration of clinical sites to achieve ahigh-quality educational experience and student success,
  • Providing ongoing CQI of the clinical curriculum,
  • Serving as the program Medical Liaison with statewidestakeholders, and
  • Producing clinicians who practice the highest standard ofevidence-based medicine.

This is a part-time non-tenure track appointment. Faculty rank will be commensurate with qualifications andexperience.

Principal Functional Responsibilities:
Administrative Responsibilities

Active participation in the ProgramAdvisory Committee. Assist with recruiting clinical sites for theprogram and participate in regular contact with all entitiesparticipating in student education. Advocating to local andregional hospitals, as well as health professionals organizations,about the NEOMED Program and the Certified Mental Health Assistantprofession. Assist with recruitment and interviewing of programfaculty and students. Assist with metrics required to maintainaccreditation. Represent the program at professional andorganizational events. Support, as required, recruiting efforts bythe Director of Admissions.

Teaching Responsibilities

Instructing students in the classroom andclinical setting. Assist in the development and constant analysisof the didactic and clinical curriculum of the program to ensurestandards of medical knowledge are being met and there isconsistency of educational experiences across clinical rotationsites. Assist with assessing student performance in the classroom,and clinical experiences.

Service Responsibilities

Include activeparticipation on college and university committees will be requiredand assigned. In addition, membership and participation in stateand national professional organizations is strongly encouraged.Evaluating the success of service obligations will be based onlevel of participation and engagement in support of relatedactivities.

Qualifications:
  • M.D. or D.O degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Successful completion of an accredited residency program inPsychiatry.
  • Board Certified in Psychiatry with 10 years of clinicalexperience.
  • Current active and unencumbered Ohio License to practicemedicine.
  • Have the requisite knowledge and skills to administer theclinical/academic aspects of the program.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience teaching students orresidents.
  • Teaching experience in a university-based undergraduate orgraduate medical education.
  • Coordinating the activity of and supervising clinicians.
