Job description

Essential Responsibilities

• Operation of a platform drill Cat 6200 and a Sandvik Leopard DI650i.
• Operates and understands mechanics of a top head drilling unit equipped with multi‑function joy sticks and GPS on a mine site.
• Comply with all company, client, and legislated safety policies and procedures of drilling in a large open‑pit surface mine.
• Understands the limitations of the drill rig and the performance it can safely provide.
• Detects and performs small mechanical repairs to the drill.
• Communicates effectively and professionally with other team members when needed, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of surface drilling experience using various drilling units.
• Would have thorough knowledge of drill patterns and the structure in which they are developed.
• MSHA P.48 metal/nonmetal ticket is required; training and support is provided to obtain or update the certificate as needed.
• Successful completion of pre‑employment drug and alcohol testing.

Work Conditions

• 5 days on with 4 days off, working 12‑hour days that have the potential to alternate between a day and night shift rotation.
• Overtime rates apply after 40 hours per week and are paid at time and a half.
• Living out allowance provided for those who qualify.
