Job summary

RCM Health Care Services is seeking a Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant – First Assist for an Oceanside, NY hospital. The role supports an open-heart surgery program and works with a highly skilled cardiovascular team in a high-acuity setting.

The ideal candidate has OR experience with cardiothoracic procedures, NYS PA license, NCCPA, and DEA, and is prepared to lead and mentor others while maintaining precise EMR documentation.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an Accredited Physician Assistant Program (Master’s preferred).
• New York State PA license and NCCPA certification.
• DEA registration and BLS/ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including serving as first assist in open-heart surgeries.
• Manage perioperative patient care, including assessments, diagnostics, and treatment planning with physicians.
• Order and interpret labs and imaging, and prescribe medications within scope of practice.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary surgical and clinical teams to support comprehensive patient care.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to PA team members while maintaining accurate EMR documentation.
