Qualifications

• Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited PA program; Master’s preferred.
• New York State PA license required; NCCPA certification required.
• DEA license required; BLS/ACLS/AED certification required.
• Previous Cardiothoracic Surgery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist as first/second assistant under surgeon during cardiothoracic procedures.
• Harvest/prepare graft vessels for CABG as competencies allow.
• Be on-call to assist attending surgeons in urgent or emergency cases.
• Prepare patients pre- and post-operatively under supervision of the surgeon.
• Write orders for labs, medications, and care plans; document progress notes.
• Provide training to students and other staff within the department.
