Job summary

Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA, is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the CVOR open heart unit. You will evaluate patients pre- and post-surgery, provide education to patients and families, and ensure sterile, safe perioperative care. Responsibilities include IV therapy, preoperative meds, site verification, and surgical time-out protocols.

On-call may be required during non-business hours. CVOR experience is required and BLS within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Georgia preferred) required.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of start date.
• Prior CVOR experience required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and apply evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with inter-disciplinary team including providers, surgeons, and surgical techs.
• Apply nursing process with critical thinking and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes during shift.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up.
