Job summary

The New York Post is seeking an Editorial Page Assistant Editor to join our Opinion team in New York. You will help shape the voice of our institutional stance by drafting editorials daily and occasionally bylined opinion columns, with a signature smart, skeptical tone.

You should bring at least 3 years in political commentary or editorial writing, deep knowledge of New York politics, and comfort with on-camera appearances.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in political commentary, editorial writing, or a related field.
• Deep understanding of New York politics and national political dynamics.
• Exceptional writing skills under deadline.
• Strong editorial judgment and a keen news sense.
• Comfort delivering on-camera content (preferably non-teleprompter).
• Familiarity with WordPress or similar CMS and SEO best practices.

Responsibilities

• Write timely, engaging unsigned editorials under tight deadlines in line with the Post’s voice.
• Occasionally contribute bylined opinion columns on topics of expertise.
• Appear on-camera for opinion segments as needed.
• Pitch editorial ideas responding to breaking news or trends in politics and culture.
• Collaborate with the editorial team to shape daily and long-term coverage priorities.
• Monitor current events across NYC, state politics, national affairs, and cultural issues.
• Contribute to copy for digital and print publications using CMS tools.
• Help amplify content reach through sharp headlines and social media engagement.
• Represent the editorial board externally for interviews, panels, or media appearances.
