Job summary

Nscale is seeking an Ontology Manager to own and evolve the organisational ontology at the heart of Foundry—the single consumption point for all workflow projects and governed data access.

In this high‑visibility role, you will shape data models, manage the ontology backlog, evaluate change requests, and collaborate with Use Case Leads, Data Source Developers, and Governance teams to ensure alignment with the programme strategy.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data architecture, ontology design, or related field.
• 3+ years leading complex cross-functional data initiatives.
• Experience with conceptual/logical/semantic data models.
• Hands-on with data pipelines and production workflows.
• Strong knowledge of databases, schemas, metadata, and data quality.
• Experience partnering across engineering, governance, and business teams.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own the ontology development as the single data consumption point.
• Manage the ontology backlog and triage change requests.
• Evaluate new ontology change requests and assess impact.
• Collaborate on requests for new data sources to ingest into Foundry.
• Lead use-case architecture to align with ontology and roadmap.
• Maintain ontology and understand data sources per use case.
• Plan integration with ontology with Data Source Developers.
• Work with Data Governance to ensure governance compliance.
• Develop scalable governance checks in ontology development.
• Align ontology development with program roadmap with Ontology Lead.
