Job summary

Pennymac seeks an Ontology Product Owner to define and drive the enterprise ontology used across origination, servicing, and AI workflows. You will shape the product vision, manage the lifecycle, and ensure alignment with strategic goals.

You will collaborate with data engineers, domain SMEs, and leadership to map systems to domain models, validate business questions, and measure adoption and quality. The semantic layer must scale for AI use across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years in product management, business analysis, or data product ownership, incl. 2+ years in semantic modeling/ontology.
• Experience turning domain knowledge into formal models and production deployment.
• Knowledge of formal knowledge representation: class hierarchies, constraints, inheritance.
• SQL profiling to test proposed models against data.
• Ability to run modeling workshops and build consensus among SMEs.

Responsibilities

• Define and champion enterprise ontology vision, strategy, and roadmap.
• Own end-to-end product lifecycle from ideation to iteration.
• Ensure decisions align with revenue opportunities and cost savings identified by leadership.
• Communicate product strategy and progress to senior management and stakeholders.
• Own and govern ontology change backlog and governance process with named domain owners.
• Collaborate with data engineering on hydration: map source systems to domain models.
• Define competency questions and validation tests for each domain model.
• Define adoption and quality metrics: reuse, duplication, mapping freshness, etc.
• Own semantic grounding layer for AI/agent use cases for governed data use.
• Collaborate with business units and executives to align priorities and ensure success.
• Translate business needs into goals, user stories, acceptance criteria, and requirements.
• Be the domain expert for business functions supported by the product.
• Create and maintain product documentation and reports.
• Demonstrate behaviors aligned with Pennymac's culture.
