Job summary

Chugach Government Solutions (CGS) seeks a part-time on-site Recreation Assistant in Gulfport, MS, to run a diverse program of sports, arts, and activities for students, under the Recreation Supervisor. You will recruit participants, coordinate events, and ensure a positive, safe environment in accordance with government and contract requirements.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 1 year of youth experience, and Water Safety training within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Must have High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of related experience working with youth.
• Must obtain Water Safety training within 90 days of hire.
• Pass DOT/CDL drug and alcohol testing.
• Pass background check and drug test as required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain valid Driver’s License and driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Recreation Supervisor in planning, implementing, and coordinating a comprehensive program.
• Recruit and motivate students to participate in activities.
• Organize and supervise student participation in recreation activities.
• Conduct recreation and wellness classes.
• Supervise and transport students to recreation functions.
• Coordinate new student recreation orientation.
• Supervise all recreation areas and ensure safety.
• Implement arts and crafts programs as needed.
• Promote and participate in cultural activities.
• Provide special recreation activities for parents and children.
• Clean, sanitize, and organize recreation facility and equipment.
• Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
