About The Role
Under general supervision, the Onsite Wastewater (OSWW) Program Coordinator provides technical, programmatic, and customer-service support for the Bureau of Regional and Laboratory Services’ Onsite Wastewater Program. In this role, you will deliver responsive, customer-focused assistance that supports SCDES’s mission to protect and preserve South Carolina’s environment and natural resources.
Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as the regional OSWW coordinator and customer service representative, delivering front‑line support and technical assistance to OSWW customers. Communicate directly with customers to provide updates on application status and maintain working knowledge of processing time frames for assigned areas.
  • Assist internal and external customers with ePermitting data entry. Travel to satellite locations to help customers complete submissions in ePermitting. Perform data entry for Approvals to Operate, including final inspection requests and inspection information.
  • Support OSWW complaint response efforts. Enter complaint details in ePermitting and prepare pre-investigation materials such as locating addresses, gathering relevant information, sending notification letters, and communicating with appropriate parties.
  • Communicate OSWW program policies and procedures to the general public, developers, and non-program staff.
  • Identify and share opportunities for process improvements or inconsistencies related to regulation development, training, inspection goals, and program operations across regions. Participate in agency committees and task forces involved in shaping statewide policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned; attend periodic staff meetings and training.

Minimum And Additional Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED and relevant program experience.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

  • Must have valid state driver's license, ability to operate state‑owned vehicles, and be able to travel throughout the state to complete job duties.
  • Overnight travel, weekend, after hours, and holiday work may be required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
