Job summary

Fermilab in Batavia, IL is seeking an Under Research Assistant/MaPSA Testing Shifter who will provide technical assistance on project-based tasks under direct supervision. The Undergraduate Research Assistant position is for students enrolled in STEM or Computing curriculums and part-time at 20–40 hours per week for 6 months.

Onsite role with pre-employment screening and a federal background check. You will work with staff on data analysis, prototypes, calibration, and facility operations,

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited university or college as an undergraduate student.
• Some research or technical experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Works alongside staff to provide technical assistance on project-based tasks and/or research.
• Investigates, defines, and proposes solutions to assigned technical and scientific problems.
• Assists with data analysis, assembly of prototypes, calibration code and catalogs, test setup and monitoring.
• Contributes to operation of facilities and uses modeling and simulation tools.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
