Job summary

The College Internship Program (CIP) in Long Beach, CA seeks a dedicated Student Support Specialist for a full-time, on-site role. You will work with students to build independent living and academic skills, guiding them through CIP’s structured programs and real-life experiences to prepare for college success and community integration.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s (preferred) or a High School Diploma with at least two years of related experience, plus strong communication, organization,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred for the role.
• High School Diploma required to qualify.
• At least two years of related experience or training needed.

Responsibilities

• Support students in achieving plans related to academic goals and degree paths.
• Navigate and access educational services and accommodations for students.
• Coach students in executive functions for coursework completion.
• Communicate progress to Academic Coordinator or Assistant Program Director.
• Teach skills that facilitate success in higher education through sessions.
• Instruct social skills curriculum through individual sessions including communication and confidence.
• Involve students in community activities to practice social skills.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to support student growth.
