Job summary

The MIL Corporation seeks a Shipboard Safety Inspector (Occupational Safety, Senior Analyst) to support a US Navy client in Norfolk, VA. The role entails monitoring AIT safety compliance, enforcing QMS procedures, and ensuring OSHA/NAVSEA compliance.

On-site 5 days a week with travel up to 15% as needed. Responsibilities include conducting daily shipboard safety inspections, guiding trades, supporting CAR processes, and producing daily written surveillance reports.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
• 5 years of US Navy shipboard experience.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be able to lift items per NIOSH limits.
• Must be able to stand, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
• Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolding.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily shipboard safety inspections and provide on-the-spot recommendations to correct unsatisfactory and unsafe conditions.
• Ensure AIT follows QMS procedures, safety & environmental compliance, and instructions.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and NAVSEA SIs.
• Observe trades, provide guidance and real-time solutions for safety.
• Support the CAR process and maintain ESOH requirements.
• Provide daily written safety surveillance reports for each site.
• Promote safe working techniques and enforce safety policies.
