Job summary

STR is hiring a Principal Software Reverse Engineer in Arlington, VA to join a multidisciplinary team developing cutting-edge technologies with significant national security impact. This on-site role requires Active Top Secret clearance and U.S.

citizenship. You will reverse engineer binaries and embedded firmware across architectures, develop automated analysis tools, and lead cross-disciplinary teams to tackle challenging cybersecurity problems.

Qualifications

• Requires Active Top Secret security clearance and U.S. citizenship.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE/Cybersecurity plus 15+ years relevant experience; MS/PhD with equivalent work experience may be considered.
• Substantial experience leading technical teams on advanced reverse engineering and exploitation programs.
• Experience with binary analysis of software/firmware.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Python and multiple assembly languages.
• Deep understanding of reverse engineering fundamentals and vulnerability research.
• Knowledge of weaponizing discovered vulnerabilities into exploits.

Responsibilities

• Reverse engineer software and firmware targets across Windows/Linux and embedded systems.
• Develop automated reverse engineering and binary analysis tools.
• Develop innovative cybersecurity solutions and lead multi-discipline teams.
• Perform vulnerability weaponization, exploit development, and mitigation.
• Contribute to technical marketing and proposal development.
• Document, demonstrate, and present research.
