Job summary

EPITEC is seeking a Senior Linux System Administrator to support mission-critical Linux infrastructure across on-premises and Azure cloud environments in a government healthcare setting. This 12-month contract requires full-time onsite work in Montgomery, AL and offers a competitive hourly rate.

You will administer Ubuntu and RHEL, manage Azure workloads, implement security hardening, automate with Bash and PowerShell, and collaborate with security, dev and infra teams to advance modernization

Qualifications

• 8+ years of enterprise Linux administration experience.
• Experience administering Ubuntu Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
• Experience with Azure in production environments.
• Hands-on Docker administration experience.
• Strong Bash scripting skills and PowerShell knowledge.
• Linux security hardening, auditing and vulnerability remediation.
• Knowledge of systemd, PAM, auditd, SSH hardening, and firewall management.
• Experience managing filesystems, storage and LVM.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Ubuntu and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers in production and non-production environments.
• Manage Linux workloads on-premises and in Microsoft Azure.
• Perform system patching, upgrades, security updates, and lifecycle management.
• Implement and maintain security hardening standards, compliance controls, and audit requirements.
• Develop and maintain automation using Bash and PowerShell.
• Support Azure DevOps pipelines, repositories, and CI/CD processes for Linux-based systems.
• Administer Docker container environments and secure secrets management.
• Manage storage, filesystems, partitions, and Linux performance tuning.
• Support identity and access management including PAM, SSSD, and sudo administration.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, development, and cybersecurity teams on operational and security initiatives.
