Job summary

Giga Energy Inc. is seeking a SCADA and BMS Engineer to own the Ignition environment, screens, historian, alarms, and dashboards across our data center portfolio.

You will design, stand up, and maintain the platform to keep sites healthy and deployable with templates for rapid growth. Based in San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston, this role requires onsite work with occasional travel to live sites and after-hours on-call.

Qualifications

• Hands-on SCADA/HMI development in Ignition or FactoryTalk.
• 5+ years designing and maintaining SCADA or BMS in critical facilities.
• Experience owning a production SCADA system (alarms, historian, backups).
• Strong Modbus TCP knowledge; familiarity with BACnet, SNMP/OPC UA/DNP3/IEC-61850.
• Ability to read mechanical/electrical drawings and sequences of operation.
• Understanding of data center mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
• Willingness to travel to sites regularly.
• Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and architecture of SCADA/BMS platform across portfolio: Ignition environment, server and gateway topology, tag structures, naming standards, and redundancy.
• Build and maintain operator screens, historian, alarms, dashboards, and reporting.
• Create reusable templates for the first site to speed deployment to subsequent sites.
• Integrate data from mechanical and electrical systems (Modbus TCP).
• Collaborate with network and security for OT/IT segmentation and reliable data access.
• Integrate SCADA data with DCIM and other monitoring platforms.
• Maintain production systems: updates, backups, documentation, root-cause analysis.
• Support site testing by validating points and screens.
• On-call rotation for after-hours incident response.
• Write standards and runbooks for repeatable deployments.
