Job summary

Scale's Robotics Lab in San Francisco is seeking a hands-on engineer to support data collection production and prototype new embodiments. This on-site role involves bringing up robots, managing hardware, and coordinating logistics to keep the lab running smoothly.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, track uptime and failures, and become a subject matter expert on robotic platforms, imaging, and autonomy-related concepts while advancing Scale's robotics offerings.

Qualifications

• Academic or industry experience in Engineering fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, or related fields.
• 5+ years in hardware labs or manufacturing environments.
• Hands-on robotics, AI, and computer vision experience.
• Experience managing risk and operating robots safely.
• Strong project management and interpersonal skills with a high degree of ownership.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day operations of the Lab by bringing up and maintaining robots and collection hardware.
• Manage physical inventory, maintain equipment, and coordinate logistics.
• Provide technical support for data collection operations.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to bring up new robots and productionize maintenance of robots and collection hardware.
• Develop uptime, utilization, and failure mode tracking systems to guide prioritization and decisions.
