Job summary

APEX is seeking an Assistant Project Superintendent to support the Project Superintendent on active construction renovation projects in Chicago. You will help manage day-to-day operations, ensure schedules stay on track, and coordinate multiple subcontractors while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in construction or project supervision
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
• Experience in occupied affordable housing environments preferred
• Knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, and building codes
• Ability to manage multiple trades and meet aggressive timelines
• Excellent problem-solving and leadership skills
• Proficiency with construction software (Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project, Bluebeam)
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents and plans
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Superintendent in leading onsite activities, ensuring on-time delivery within scope
• Coordinate supervision of subcontractors, vendors, and onsite personnel
• Review and enforce contracts and specifications with Subcontractors
• Enforce safety policies to maintain a safe working environment
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specs
• Schedule inspections, track progress, and maintain daily reports/logs
• Maintain project records in SharePoint
• Conduct regular site meetings to monitor progress and address issues
• Monitor material deliveries and manage inventory to avoid delays
• Ensure quality control procedures are followed and standards met
• Communicate effectively with clients, architects, engineers, and officials
• Step in for the Project Superintendent as needed
