The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority, Bureau of Law Enforcement, seeks a part-time Regional Evidence Custodian to support multiple regional offices. This onsite role requires living within the assigned region and involves extensive travel to collect, prepare, and store evidence, maintain logs, and assist with regional vehicle maintenance.

The position is wage-based, limited to 29 hours per week and up to 1500 hours per year, with no benefits.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations and agency policies related to evidence storage.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with management, other agencies and the public.
• Experience performing data entry and preparing investigative reports and presenting contents verbally.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment, work independently, maintain confidentiality, and handle stressful situations.

Responsabilités

• Receive, preserve, record, store, secure, and release items of physical evidence with accurate chain of custody records.
• Transport evidence between regional offices and storage facilities and manage storage/disposition records.
• Testify in court regarding chain of custody and handling of evidence.
• Travel extensively in a state vehicle to regional offices to collect/prepare/store evidence from field.
• Oversee AED and fire extinguisher maintenance logs.
• Assist with spare regional vehicle maintenance.
• Potentially investigate low level banquet applications.
• Perform other administrative duties within the regional offices.
