Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking an early career Mechanical Engineer to support the full lifecycle of safety mechanisms for nuclear deterrence applications. You will contribute to development, production, and assessment of lifetime performance in safety-critical components and software, working with cross-disciplinary teams on complex mechanical interactions.

Expect to develop and refine designs through design-build-test cycles, lead prototype assembly, and ensure manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering/science field.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and down-select design concepts.
• Analyze designs for concept suitability and changes.
• Lead product design definition drawings using GD&T.
• Develop iterative design-build-test cycles to refine designs.
• Lead assembly of prototype and developmental hardware.
• Negotiate manufacturing requirements with production.
• Review inspection results for compliance with requirements.
• Disposition non-conformances based on design analysis.
