Job summary

The Washington State Department of Corrections invites applications for the Psychology Associate at Monroe Correctional Complex (MCC) near Seattle. The role provides diagnostic assessment, mental health treatment, and crisis services to incarcerated individuals under the DOC Health Plan, with supervision by a licensed psychologist.

Responsibilities include intake, treatment planning, direct psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and collaboration with health care and custody staff.

Qualifications

• Licensed Agency Affiliated Counselor (LAAC) required or ability to apply within 30 days of hire.
• Preferred: Doctoral degree in Psychology or Master’s with supervised post‑Masters experience.
• Official Washington State licensure as Mental Health Clinician is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Mental health assessment and treatment of incarcerated individuals per DOC Health Plan.
• Intake of referred inmates including informed consent and treatment planning.
• Provide direct psychotherapeutic services (individual and group).
• Crisis intervention and coordination of follow‑up care.
• Administrative supervision and performance evaluations of supervisees.
• Transition and release coordination for mentally ill residents.
• Attend trainings, MDTs, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
