Job summary

Hancher Auditorium at the University of Iowa seeks a 100% full-time Operations Manager to coordinate events, oversee building operations, and create a welcoming experience for patrons, clients, artists, and campus partners.

This role requires a bachelor's degree in technical theatre or stage management (or equivalent) and at least 2 years of event planning/management. Night/weekend work is expected in Iowa City venues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in technical theatre or stage management, or equivalent event management experience.
• Minimum 2 years of event planning/management.
• Ability to work nights and weekends based on event schedule in Iowa City venues.
• Able to lift furniture/equipment around 50 pounds.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe platforms.
• Keeps event files organized and coordinates multiple events simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate information for rental events, create estimates and agreements.
• Schedule planning meetings with clients and ensure teams are informed.
• Provide operational support for planning special events and festivals.
• Supervise hourly staff and custodial supervisor, guiding and coaching as needed.
• Ensure excellent patron experience and collaboration with campus/community partners.
