Job summary

Southern Health Partners is seeking a Physician, NP, or PA to conduct on-site evaluations and manage care at the Surry County Detention Center in Dobson, NC. Flexible schedule with up to 3 hours per week on-site work, supporting a multidisciplinary team dedicated to correctional healthcare.

The role emphasizes independent work with collaboration, strong clinical decision-making, and documentation in compliance with facility standards. Active NC license and DEA are required.

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina license in good standing.
• DEA registration (or ability to obtain).
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Strong assessment, clinical decision‑making, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with nursing staff.
• Correctional, emergency, urgent care, family practice, or primary care experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct onsite patient evaluations and follow-up visits.
• Assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for acute and chronic conditions.
• Review and oversee medical care provided by nursing staff as appropriate.
• Prescribe medications and treatments within your scope of practice.
• Collaborate with an experienced multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Ensure accurate, timely documentation and compliance with correctional healthcare standards.
