North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, AL, seeks a medical transcriptionist for an on-site role. The candidate will transcribe dictated material and ensure proper routing of reports, while maintaining high accuracy and timely delivery.

Responsibilities include meeting hourly targets, handling EKG/EEG/Radiology/H&P reports within 24 hours, and following department procedures. The hospital emphasizes patient care and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; successful completion of medical terminology course required.
• Experience: two years in a Health Information Transcription section preferred.
• Attention to detail with strong verbal ability and high numerical, clerical perception, and finger dexterity.

Responsibilities

• Transcribes a minimum of 150 lines per hour (65 chars/line) with accuracy.
• Provides 24-hour turnaround for dictated EKG, EEG, Radiology Reports, and History and Physicals.
• Maintains 98% accuracy per QA guidelines and minimal revisions.
• Assigns, finishes, and unassigns work per established procedures.
• Notifies management of equipment problems and adheres to policy.
