Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Medical Technologist to support a leading nonclinical research organization focused on drug development and laboratory animal studies. This onsite role is based in Gaithersburg, MD.

The candidate will operate instrumentation, perform clinical pathology tests, read blood smears, and ensure quality control under GLP requirements. A science degree and ASCP certification are preferred, with experience in ADVIA 2120 highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in a scientific discipline.
• ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Urinalysis.
• Experience reading blood smears and performing manual microscopy reviews.
• Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and troubleshooting.
• GLP knowledge preferred.
• Experience with ADVIA 2120 instrumentation highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate laboratory instrumentation used to analyze biological samples from research animals.
• Perform clinical pathology testing including clinical chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis.
• Conduct manual testing such as blood smear reviews, manual reticulocyte counts, and urine microscopic examinations.
• Perform quality control and routine maintenance on laboratory instruments in accordance with SOPs.
• Review laboratory data for accuracy and troubleshoot instrumentation concerns.
• Document observations and test results in compliance with GLP requirements and study protocols.
• Collaborate with Study Directors and laboratory staff to support ongoing research studies.
