Job summary

Boston Scientific is seeking an internship in its Active Implantable Systems (AIS) R&D group in Minnesota. The role focuses on designing software features in Java, with Kotlin, C++, and JavaScript contributions, for medical device prototypes.

You will support Android/Linux development and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate clinical insights into software requirements. Ideal candidates are rising juniors/seniors pursuing CS/CE degrees, available for May 2027 start for 12 weeks,

Qualifications

• Current rising junior or rising senior (grad dates between Dec 2028 - May 2029).
• Working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• Must be able to start internship on May 17th or 24th, 2027 and work for 12 weeks.
• Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
• Key requirement of experience with Java.
• Familiarity with Kotlin or Android OS.
• Familiarity with Linux or C++.
• Familiarity with JavaScript.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software features for medical device prototypes using Java as the primary development language, with Kotlin, C++, and JavaScript as needed.
• Support mobile and embedded development on Android OS and Linux to optimize performance, reliability, and user experience in clinical environments.
• Collaborate with engineering and clinical teams to translate procedural insights into software requirements.
• Assist in developing and validating test methods that replicate real-world device usage, integrating clinical feedback into iterative software improvements.
• Contribute to data analysis by working with clinical datasets to inform device behavior and interface logic.
