Travertine, based in Boulder, CO, seeks a Mechanical Engineer II to design, prototype, and test stack hardware for its electrochemical systems. You will collaborate across teams to advance concepts from prototyping to mass-produced parts and assemblies.

The role emphasizes CAD-driven design, manufacturability, and close interaction with Electrochemical R&D and Process Engineering for performance improvements. Onsite position with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher.
• Educational or industry background in electrochemistry preferred.
• 2+ years hands-on mechanical design and rapid prototyping experience in hardware.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, drafting, and mechanical design principles.
• Experience with milling, turning, welding and safe lab practices.

Responsibilities

• Design & Prototyping: Create detailed CAD models, drawings, and physical prototypes for electrochemical cells and fixtures.
• Testing & Validation: Design and execute experimental testing to characterize hardware performance.
• Data Acquisition & Automation: Implement instrumentation and controls to validate system performance.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with R&D and process engineers to translate requirements into hardware.
• Fabrication & Sourcing: Interface with machine shops and vendors to build components.
• Design for Manufacturability: Optimize parts to reduce cost and improve yield.
