Qualifications

• Strong electrical construction or site delivery background.
• Experience managing contractors in power/energy infrastructure.
• BESS experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Background from substations, Solar PV, Wind, or similar electrical infra.
• Safety management or Safety Officer experience desirable.
• 5+ years in industry, 10+ years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day site activities throughout the BESS augmentation programme.
• Coordinate contractors, subcontractors and project stakeholders across the site.
• Oversee logistics, lifting activities and movement/installation of equipment.
• Maintain a strong site safety culture and proactively identify/address potential risks.
• Monitor construction progress against the project programme and escalate delays.
• Coordinate electrical activities associated with ~1,500V DC / 1,000V AC systems.
• Support resolution of technical and site-related issues during delivery.
• Provide clear progress updates and maintain communication between site and project teams.

The Opportunity

Hunter Philips is supporting a leading global energy technology business with the appointment of an experienced Site Manager / Site Lead for an upcoming Battery Energy Storage augmentation project in Barstow, California.

The project involves the augmentation of an existing operational BESS facility, with approximately 50MWh of additional energy storage capacity being integrated into the site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead day-to-day site activities throughout the BESS augmentation programme.
• Coordinate contractors, subcontractors and project stakeholders across the site.
• Oversee logistics, lifting activities and the movement and installation of equipment.
• Maintain a strong site safety culture and proactively identify and address potential risks.
• Monitor construction progress against the project programme and escalate potential delays.
• Coordinate electrical activities associated with approximately 1,500V DC / 1,000V AC systems.
• Support the resolution of technical and site-related issues throughout delivery.
• Provide clear progress updates and maintain effective communication between site and project teams.

Requirements:

• Strong electrical construction or site delivery background.
• Previous experience managing contractors within power or energy infrastructure environments.
• BESS experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Candidates from substations, Solar PV, Wind, power generation or similar electrical infrastructure backgrounds will be considered.
• Previous safety management or Safety Officer experience is highly desirable.
• Ideally 5+ years of relevant industry experience, with 10+ years preferred.
• Start: 4 January 2027.
• Duration will be minimum 4 months, running through toe end of April 2027.
• Monday–Friday with potential Saturday working.
• Local / commutable candidates are preferred.
• For suitable travelling candidates, flights, accommodation and vehicle can be covered separately.
• Rotational arrangements may potentially be considered for travelling candidates.
