Job summary

Apex Systems is seeking a hands-on Low Voltage Technician to support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling and low-voltage systems in Birmingham, AL. You will work onsite with project teams, electricians, and IT personnel to deliver reliable infrastructure on schedule.

The role requires experience in telecommunications or cabling, knowledge of safety standards, and the ability to read technical drawings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience with low-voltage installations or structured cabling.
• Proficiency in terminating and testing copper and fiber cabling; understand TIA/EIA standards.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, label, and test Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling.
• Install and maintain CCTV, access control, fire alarm, and AV equipment.
• Assist with setup and connectivity of network switches and wireless gear.
• Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
• Test, troubleshoot, and repair low-voltage cabling and devices.
