Job Details

• Location: Nashville, Tennessee (TN School Blind)
• Duration: 5 Months
• Schedule: 5:00 am to 12:30 pm, Monday through Friday during the school year; hours may vary during July and school breaks

Position Description

Under supervision, performs registered nursing duties of moderate complexity in various settings, including schools, clinics, hospitals, or home care. May work different shifts temporarily based on clinic needs. Responsible for nursing assessments, care planning, interventions, and evaluation. May supervise LPNs or other staff up to 6 at a time.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current RN license in Tennessee or practice privileges under NLC with at least one year of nursing experience, and a valid driver’s license if required.
• Or RN license in Tennessee with an accredited diploma, associate’s, or bachelor’s degree, and at least one year of nursing experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care per physician orders and protocols.
• Assess health status, administer medications, record documentation.
• Evaluate medication effects, perform emergency procedures like BLS and CPR.
• Implement care plans, perform assessments, collect health data, and discuss health plans with staff.
• Maintain medical equipment and supplies, supervise staff, and perform other assigned duties.

Additional Functions

• Attend student registration, organize health clinics, and participate in health screenings.
• Provide coverage at sporting events and off-campus trips as needed.
• Train staff on emergency procedures and document training.

Competencies and Skills

Must demonstrate learning agility, creativity, time management, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork. Knowledge of nursing principles, medical terminology, and legal standards required. Skills in applying nursing techniques, monitoring performance, and problem-solving are essential. Abilities include assessing healthcare outcomes, managing change, and effective communication.
