Job summary

Prisma International is actively recruiting experienced/interpreting professionals located in Wisconsin to join our team as Independent Contractors. As an Interpreter, you will provide on-site interpretation for state government clients, interpreting between English and multiple languages.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of onsite consecutive or simultaneous interpretation, strong customer service, and the ability to work ethically in high-stakes settings.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of onsite consecutive or simultaneous interpreting experience.
• Two professional references that can vouch for your work as an onsite interpreter.
• Must reside in Wisconsin and be 18+ years old.
• Fluent in English and the target language; ATA accreditation or equivalent training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site consecutive or simultaneous interpretation between government representatives and LEP speakers.
• Maintain professional appearance, enunciation, and high level of customer service.
• Accurately convey concepts and meanings between languages.
• Ensure correct grammar, clarity, and tone during interpretation.
• Follow speakers' directions, interject when needed, and manage the flow of conversations.
• Avoid side conversations and disputes with customers or LEP speakers; uphold ethics and standards.
• Interpret for different state agencies as required.
