Job summary

Mass General Brigham's Center for Fetal Medicine and Reproductive Genetics is seeking a Genetic Counseling Assistant to provide specialized support to genetic counselors and program physicians in delivering coordinated care to patients and families. This onsite role is based in Boston, MA, with a 40-hour work week.

You will manage patient lists, coordinate referrals, support genetic testing processes, and collaborate with laboratories and care teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or Genetics preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience working with patients in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records, test requisitions, and pathology reports.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; empathetic, patient-focused approach.
• Ability to collaborate with patients, families, providers, laboratories, and care team members.

Responsibilities

• Manage established genetics patient lists and monitor the status of pending clinical workups.
• Review schedules to identify patients who may benefit from prenatal genetic counseling and coordinate communication between referring providers and the genetic counseling team.
• Support the development, implementation, and ongoing coordination of reproductive genetic counseling services.
• Collaborate with laboratories, genetic counselors, clinicians, and other partners to coordinate genetic testing, track results and delays, facilitate referrals, and support sample collection.
• Build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with patients, families, providers, and other members of the care team.
• Contribute to research initiatives, educational programs, and other projects that support the advancement of genetic counseling services.
