Job summary

James Moore & Co., P.L. is seeking an Audit Director to lead nonprofit audit engagements in Florida, delivering high-quality services to mission-driven organizations. The role emphasizes guidance, mentorship, and growth of the nonprofit practice.

You will supervise, develop staff, and foster client relationships while driving profitability and adherence to regulatory standards. This onsite leadership position requires travel to client sites and collaboration with firm leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• CPA license.
• 9+ years of auditing experience, preferably within public accounting.
• Strong knowledge of auditing standards, financial reporting, and client engagement management.
• Proven experience leading complex audit engagements and managing client relationships.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and audit engagement software.
• Proficiency with Co-Pilot or Chat GPT.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of nonprofit audit and attest clients, delivering exceptional service tailored to each organization's mission and operational needs.
• Serve as the primary advisor and escalation point for accounting, auditing, and compliance matters.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with executive directors, CEOs, finance committees, and boards of directors.
• Identify opportunities to provide additional value-added services and strengthen long-term client partnerships.
• Lead audits and attest engagements in compliance with professional standards and nonprofit industry requirements.
• Perform final technical and quality control reviews of engagement workpapers and deliverables.
