Job summary

AIXTRON Inc. is seeking an on-site field service engineer to support MO CVD systems at customer locations in Northern California, including San Jose and Sacramento.

You will diagnose, repair, maintain, and optimize complex equipment, collect data, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions with daily customer updates. The role requires a BS in electrical/mechanical/computer engineering and 3–4 years in semiconductor R&D or production.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in electrical/mechanical/computer engineering or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 3–4 years of experience in R&D and/or production in the semiconductor industry.
  • Direct experience with compound semiconductors and MOCVD is a plus.
  • Adept in reading mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, warranty/service repair, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance and system installation of AIXTRON reactors at customer sites.
  • Provide status reports and respond to customer requests; communicate schedule changes.
  • Coordinate local technical support and be the main contact for account managers.
  • Document all system problems and actions taken.
  • Meet with customers regularly to address problems and issues.
  • Maintain reports on issues, tools status, quality, and escalate to support.
  • Train less experienced staff and customer representatives on equipment operation.

AIXTRON Inc. is seeking experienced On-site Field Service Engineers to work with customers on qualifying and sustaining state‑of‑the‑art (MO)CVD systems in R&D and high‑volume manufacturing. Job Description:

In the role of “on-site field service engineer”, you are responsible for the coordination of technical and administrative support activities at assigned customer location according to the on-site services support contract or as part of key account support. The On-Site Field Service Engineer will be responsible for execution of efforts on resolving technical and operational issues. This would include data collection, reactor data analysis, root cause analysis, generating corrective action and preventive plans, and providing updates to customers daily or agreed upon periodic updates. The On-Site Field Service Engineer would be the acting first line level of contact for the customer and will drive the AIXTRON support required according to the AIXTRON escalation plan. The On-Site Field Service Engineer offers support in the maintenance, repair, and upgrade of the equipment. Finally, the position is responsible for maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction while representing the interests of the company.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform the troubleshooting, warranty/service repairs, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, system monitoring, upgrades, and system installation as needed of AIXTRON reactors at customer’s site according to the on-site service contract or as part of key account management.
  • Act as a company liaison: provide status reports, respond to requests for additional information, address customer concerns, advise customers of schedule changes, updates on required parts availability, and assist in parts identification.
  • Coordinate local support from local tech support and be the main contact person for account manager for status updates.
  • Provide accurate documentation on all system problems and actions taken.
  • Meets with customers on a regular basis to address problems/issues.
  • Maintains all reports on customer issues, tools status and quality, and escalates to AIXTRON support.
  • Train less experienced employees and customer representatives on equipment operations and maintenance
Physical Demands:
  • Frequent standing; occasional bending and squatting
  • Might be requested to work off-hours, including weekends, up to 12-hour shifts & lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to participate in clean room contamination exposure prevention requirements, such as wearing appropriate apparatus (SCBA), etc.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • BS degree in electrical/mechanical/computer engineering or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 3-4 years of experience in R&D and/or production environment within the semiconductor industry. Direct experience with compound semiconductor & MOCVD operations, maintenance, & hardware engineering is a plus.
  • Adept in mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, hand tools, multimeter, Helium leak checker, and high purity gas supply systems.
  • A high level of written and oral communication skills is required.
  • The ability to travel domestically and internationally for training & other company events.
  • Working knowledge in the following areas is highly desirable:
  • Data Collection & Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Characterization methods used in semiconductor manufacturing
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA) & Corrective Action Preventive Action Request (CAPAR)
  • Hardware to Process Interrelations
  • Customer Support
