Job summary

Metso is seeking a Field Machinist to join our Field Services team. You will perform precision machining and mechanical repairs at customer sites, setting up portable machine tools and ensuring equipment reliability to minimize downtime.

Travel to customer locations is up to 50–70% across the U.S., including power plants and refineries. You will read blueprints, collaborate with engineers and site managers, and follow safety protocols on every job.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in machining, preferably in field/industrial settings.
• Proficiency with conventional and portable machining equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and precision measurement.
• Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer locations to perform on-site machining and repair tasks.
• Set up and operate portable machine tools including mills, lathes, and line boring equipment.
• Perform precision alignments and tolerances per job requirements.
• Inspect and measure completed work to ensure adherence to specifications.
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job specifications.
• Collaborate with engineers and site managers to plan and execute tasks.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used and time spent.
• Follow all safety protocols and ensure tools/equipment are in good condition.
