J. A. Watts, LLC (JWI) in Lisle, IL is seeking an Engineering Technician to support onsite and reporting for roadway projects. This hands-on role involves testing, data collection, and field inspections across multiple sites with regular travel.

The position emphasizes collaboration with the Project Team to meet contract requirements, quality standards, and project schedules while coordinating with engineering staff.

Qualifications

• An Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred.
• 0-4 years of experience, preferably in engineering, project or construction management; transportation and construction industries preferred.
• IDOT Doc Control certification is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite is required.
• Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD and project management software (eBuilder/Procore) preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities, work and communicate effectively in a team environment, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Monitor onsite activities for projects across multiple disciplines and companies.
• Act as an inspector on job sites following contract and project guidelines.
• Perform standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations.
• Include a role as a hands-on Field Technician.
• Initiate action as needed to ensure projects follow contract and compliance obligations.
• Conduct standardized tests for multiple projects and report out on results to project teams.
• Gather and maintain data including testing results and drawings.
• Schedule and attend job meetings.
• Assemble and distribute meeting minutes.
• Provide support to the Project Team to help ensure those project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality.
• Perform other duties as required/directed.
